Barefoot Scuba owns a fleet of a variety of dive vessels. Depending on the size of the group, dive package chosen, the dive site, the distance to dive site and the sea conditions on that given day the appropriate boat is chosen by the Dive Centre.
The traditional boats used extensively in the Andamans are called Dunghis and these make very simple yet suitable dive boats for our region. All boats are equipped with a ladder to make entries and exits easier.
The boats also carry first aid kit, emergency oxygen and floatation devices. Our boat crews are also trained in first aid and handling emergency. If you would like something a bit more comfortable for your group take a look at our bigger boats.
We offer special trips (3 dives a day outings and camp & dive outings on these larger boats) every few weeks. You could even charter any of our boats exclusively for your group's diving and tailor made holiday. Do email us and we will be happy to assist you.

Dunghis are traditional Burmese fishing boats used extensively throughout the Andaman Islands and their unique design makes them suitable for our waters. These boats are modified to suit diving needs and are the most common boats used for day diving trips in the Andamans. Our dunghis seat about 8 divers in a shaded seating area and offer additional room at the bow for those wishing to sit out and enjoy the sun.

Laxmi, our larger more comfortable boat is about 16m in length and travels between 8 and 10 knots. She is equipped with a dive platform for easy access, tank racks for storage of tanks and a ladder to help you enter and exit the water.
She has a wheel house, a nice small seating area, an open sun area at the bow of the boat, a toilet and a small kitchen. There is a hatch where all the diving equipment can be stored. Laxmi can take up to 12 divers comfortably and offers a relaxed ride to our dive sites.

Valsa has been rebuilt into a custom made dive boat for the upcoming season and no effort has been spared in providing her with the best facilities. Made completely in timber she is about 14 meters in length and is equipped with a powerful engine.
Complete with a tank rack, an equipment area, a swim step, a sun deck for divers to relax, a toilet on board, a wheel house, a simple cabin (2 berths) and a small kitchen area Valsa is a great boat to be on. She travels at about 8 knots and can comfortably accommodate about 12 divers at a time.

Badmaash is the fastest speedboat in the Andamans and can get you to the best diving spots like Barren Island and Invisible Banks within 2 hours from Havelock and Port Blair. Onboard facilities like air-conditioned cabins ensure that you feel extremely comfortable and pampered.
Built by GC Marine (Dubai), this boat is 35 feet and is powered by twin 225HP Mercury Optimax OBMs. Below deck is an air-conditioned cabin, a fully equipped galley and a toilet.
OUR DIVING EQUIPMENT :
Our dive gear is state-of-the-art equipment from Scubapro. We have a range of BCD sizes to accommodate all divers. Our gear is washed thoroughly in fresh water after every day of use and serviced regularly with standard spares as recommended by the manufacturers.
Our scuba cylinders are 12-liter Catalina cylinders fitted with K-valves for standard yoke regulators. If you have a DIN regulator, we do have adaptors for your use. Our cylinders are hydrostatically tested as per international regulations. They are filled to 200 bar using Bauer Mariner breathing air compressors under strict adherence to operating standards.
For divers who wish to carry their own dive computers, we rent out Suunto Gecko computers to our guests. Despite the water temperature averaging 28 Degrees Celsius, we generally provide 3mm short wetsuits in all sizes to our guests. If you find that these are inadequate then we can provide you with 3mm full wetsuits. We have a variety of masks, single-lens and twin-lens, with a range of prescription lenses which can be fitted to suit the needs of our guests. Our fins come in full-foot and open-heel models. We have boots and booties of all sizes for divers who opt for open-heel fins.
We understand that an enjoyable dive requires comfortable and well maintained equipment. We do our best to ensure that our guests are provided with equipment that is optimum to their needs. Our experienced staff usually assembles the equipment of our certified divers every morning, before loading the dive boats. If you wish to assemble your own equipment, or if you wish to change a piece of equipment that you are not comfortable with, please let us know. We are happy to oblige.
