Expedition trips:

Our expedition trips are exclusive. Here you have a choice between diving at Barren Island and at Invisible Banks.

We can take you diving to Barren Island (the only active volcano in south asia) which is about 3 hours away by speed boat from Havelock. This is a day trip and leaves at 3 am and returns at 5 pm. Included is 3 dives at Barren Island, all basic equipment as well as food and beverages on the boat. The volcano is currently active and smoke and rocks the size of tennis balls are expelled every 30 min or so. The diving here is wonderful with a good chance of pelagics too.

Invisible banks are frequented by Thai liveaboards but no local Andaman dive centre except us does these long haul trips. It take 3.5 hrs to reach from Havelock Island and this is a day trip and leaves at 3 am and returns at 5 pm. Included is 3 dives at Invisible banks, all basic equipment as well as food and beverages on the boat. Invisible banks is home to several species of sharks and is a fantastic expedition trip to take.

Please note the following for expedition trips:

• Minimum group size will be 4 people and the maximum here can be 5 people.
• So in case more divers wish to do the trip, we will need to either take 2 speed boats or split the group into 2 and do them on different days.
• Please note that for this trip we will need to charter a speed boat and it can be very difficult to get availability of the same on arrival. If interested in this trip, it is highly advised to book before arrival.
• Please note that as currents in these sites can be strong, a minimum of Advanced or equivalent certification or experience of at least 50 dives is required for these sites.
• The viz here can be amazing usually over 30 m and with some luck even 40 metres.
• The cost of each trip is Rs.13,000 per person.
• Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages can be purchased on board.
• Not included in this package are Marine Park fees (if applicable).
• The above dives are on air only. Nitrox is available for those holding a valid certification at Rs.250 extra per tank.

Dive Safaris:

Here you have a choice between 2 safaris. We offer a 1 night/2 day safari up to Long Island and a 3 night/4 day safari upto Maybunder & Avis Islands in North Andamans.

Please note that these safaris are not liveaboards as no liveaboards operate locally in the Andamans. The boat is a comfortable wooden boat complete with swim step, equipment rack, toilet, wheel house, sun deck etc but is not a luxury boat at all. Stay during the safari is in local small backpacker rest houses with shared bathrooms or simple camping tents in places where no local rest houses are available. However if you wish to have a better quality room with private shower, it can be organised against a surcharge.

The prices are listed below. These trip will run only between Dec and April and the prices below are the prices for the upcoming season.

Points to note specifically for North Andaman Safari:

• The North Andaman Safari costs given are in a large comfortable wooden boat with toilet but not on speedboat.
• The 3 night/ 4 day trip will involve 2 night stays on Long Island and 1 night stay at Avis Island with departure at 6 am and arrival on the fourth day at 5pm.
• The 1 night/ 2 day trip is upto Long Island and 1 night stay at Long Island with departure at 6 am and arrival on the second day at 5pm.
• The costs given are inclusive in this 3 night/4 days trip of 10 dives, water, food and basic accommodation with shared bathrooms. However optional supplements for private bathroom and better quality rooms have been given.
• As not many rooms are available on these Islands, early booking is recommended.
• Minimum number of people for a confirmed safari is 6 pax or payment for 6.
• Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages can be purchased on board.
• Not included in this package are Marine Park fees (if applicable).

Barefoot Scuba would like to be frank with you and let you know that both the north Andaman safaris although advertised last season were unable to actually be executed as the Govt changed a lot of rules, banning night stays on many islands that were a part of our trip. This year we will definately run the north Andaman safaris based on the new regulations. However these areas are undived as there are no locally based dive centres. We will in the beginning of the upcoming season do a mock trip to these areas and see what the sites have to offer. However till date, we have not dived these areas and hence cannot commit to the exact dive sites or what can be seen in these areas or the quality of diving here.
